Now you can shop on e-commerce sites like Amazon with Bitcoin using the lightning network. Moon, a crypto payment platform founded in New York in 2018, announced that any lightning-enabled wallet can now be used via Moon’s browser extension to make payments on e-commerce websites.
Shop Online with Moon
After adding the extension to their browser, the users will be prompted to register themselves and integrate the extension with a lightning-enabled wallet.
Ken Kruger, CEO of Moon elaborating on the working of the tool, said that an extension would pop up which will have a QR code as well as a lightning invoice, which people can copy if they cannot use the QR code for any reason. After this, they will also be able to pay with their personal lightning wallet.
Amazon is Not Part of the Bitcoin Transaction
Amazon is not part of the Bitcoin transaction. Moon CEO refused to specify which financial institutions are behind converting the Bitcoin to fiat, which is making it possible for the Amazon merchant to get paid in traditional currency in return for their items and services. Ken Kruger also promised that the lightning-enabled feature would work on almost all e-commerce websites, even if they don’t accept Bitcoin.
Moon is Partnering with Visa and MasterCard
He also added that there is no direct integration with the merchant clarifying that Moon only offers a user-friendly interface and also manages the payment channels to help the users in sending the payments. He also added that the company is integrating with MasterCard and Visa networks which will give the company a cut from the interchange fee for every time they receive a credit card transaction.
