On April 16th, Forbes released its “Blockchain’s Billion Dollar Babies” list, featuring the top 50 cryptocurrency companies that have a minimum worth over one billion dollars, and are leading the way into adapting decentralized ledger tech for their operational needs.
The list included diverse firms like food companies, traditional financial institutions, and tech-giants who have their operations in the United States and have adopted blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies for their business.
Top Names in the Blockchain’s Billion Dollar Babies ist
Apart from business top players, like Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, and Walmart, Forbes‘ Blockchain’s Billion Dollar Babies list includes six giants from the world of blockchain technology; Coinbase, Bitfury, Gemini, Ripple, and Circle. The list also included big players from the health industry like CVS Health and Ciox Health.
DTCC is Making a Big Move Towards the Global Adoption of Blockchain
The list also included DTCC, The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation which is a post-trade finance service settlement and clearing services company. DTCC that manages and keeps the record of 90 million transactions a day, is planning to move some of it to AxCore, a digital ledger. The data that is supposed to be moved to AxCore is worth over ten trillion dollars which is over 50 times the current valuation of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin.
Financial Institutions in Blockchain
Financial Institutions like Allianz SE, CitiGroup, Fidelity, and others are investing in blockchain technology after the launch of enterprise versions of Ethereum and other corporate-friendly ledgers.
Other Notable Mentions
Facebook was on the list as Mark Zuckerberg said in his annual report that his company was studying blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. Mark Zuckerberg has also made up a secret team to explore blockchain technology and its applications. He even moved David Marcus the former PayPal President from his position of Vice President messaging services to lead the secret team.
