WISeKey International Holding Limited, a leading Swiss firm dealing with cybersecurity, IoT and blockchain, announced on March 29, that it has successfully launched SensorsID, a digital identity solution for the protection of Internet of Things (IoT) device identities and their data.
WISeKey defines itself as a ‘human-driven technology platform.’ It has proved itself to be a global leader in Digital Identification. Its services regarding IoT, identity management and PKI have lasted for 20 years. It claims to have an install base of more than a billion microchips in every IoT sector.
The firm’s technology is based on Root of Trust (RoT) which has already been employed with more than 4 billion devices. Even before the advent of its new identity solution, WISeKey made use of robust identity solutions namely WISeID and CertifyID to protect individual and mobile identities, respectively. SensorsID is meant for further enhancing solutions for device identities.
SensorsID: A Robust Digital Identity Solution
The new identity solution by WISeKey, SensorsID is a device focused solution which would serve the purpose of adding to the two previously mentioned solutions for both personal and device digital identities. Together, these three solutions would provide robust authentication, encryption, and digital signature.
SensorsID would function under Root of Trust, amalgamating blockchain with two-factor authentication processes. The press release highlights that the system would be completely decentralized and would be capable of being operated at both local and national levels by making use of distributed identity ledger between the parties involved.
WISeKey lays out a strong identity solution by bringing together blockchain and IoT:
“WISeKey’s technology creates a platform that helps connected devices to become intelligent devices that can learn from attacks, defend themselves, and transfer this intelligence to other devices in the network.”
